Student Services Fee Handbook
All groups and units submitting an SSF request are strongly encouraged to review the handbook and to be familiar with the content, processes, and timelines referenced within.
2026 Process Timeline
The dates listed below are tentative and are provided to give a general sense of the anticipated timeline for requests.
October 2025 through January 2026
The Student Services Fee Committee (SSFC) is formed. During this time, the committee meets to train members in the process. Fee recipients will be notified of the specific timeline.
January through February 2026
Health Services, Kirby Student Center, and Recreational Sports and Outdoor Programs will make presentations and budget proposals to the SSFC. The SSFC will have deliberations and develop follow up questions for the departments. The deadline for Health Services, Kirby, and RSOP proposals will be due January 22, 2026. The presentation date(s) will be the week of February 3-5, 2026.
All other departments and student organizations designated as Campus Life Programs (CLPs) will submit proposal and budget templates to the SSFC. The SSFC will have deliberations and develop follow up questions for the organizations. The deadline for Campus Life Programs (CLPs) and other department proposals will be due January 29, 2026. The presentation date will be Saturday, February 7, 2026. The presentation schedule will be announced at least one week in advance.
February through March 2026
The SSFC continues to meet to develop the recommendations that will be made to the UMD Chancellor. The SSFC will make their recommendations to Chancellor Nies through the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Life. The recommendations will be made in March 2026, according to a deadline set by system leadership.
2026 Canvas Course Request
All groups are required to complete a training course in Canvas. Complete the form linked below to request access to the Canvas training course. Note that the training course and group request must both be completed and submitted by January 29, 2026.
